Can you tell the difference? Single Kylie Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick!

Are you counterfeit savvy? Have a Kylie liquid lipstick you didn't buy directly from her site? Then, you might want to continue reading!

💀😐You don't want to be putting counterfeit cosmetics anywhere near your face. Do you know the difference between an authentic and fake Kylie liquid lipstick? http://throughthosemakoeyes.blogspot.co.uk/2016/11/can-you-tell-difference-single-kylie.html?m=1 🤔 #KylieCosmetics #KylieJenner #Counterfeit #Authentic #Comparison #KylieLiquidLipstick #CandyK #KokoK #ThroughThoseMakoEyes

Dupes, counterfeits, replicas - it's all the same to me. Unauthorised, illegal and potentially dangerous copies of an authentic, LEGAl item. MAC cosmetics are known for being notoriously faked including Benefit, YSL, Urban Decay, Jeffree Star and sadly, many more. Why does this happen? Financial restraints. There's a reason higher end products are faked because retailers and wholesalers cannot afford to purchase the real deals in large quantities which would affect sales. The fake products are known to be developed and created in China - often, extremely dangerous chemicals are added and they will not be listed on the ingredients label. Many online retailers and merchants are aware they sell fakes to the public, yet care little for the implications of the illegal doings and the risks to customers.

I first came across a counterfeit in a fleet marketing in 2009. Mac Powders and lipglosses were being sold for under £10 but I did not recognise the supposed Mac products. For example, I do not recall a Hello Kitty Studio Fix foundation being released and all the fonts and sizes of products were considerably different to the real deal.

Just by picking a tube of lipgloss off, you can immediately tell it' a knock off by it's weight and quality of packaging. The next fleet market I attended resulted in me warning passers by of the fake Mac/Benefit eyeshadow compacts. Sometimes a seller will be completely oblivious to a products authenticity and they need telling, as well as the potential end users.

Read these articles to gain a deeper understanding of why these products should not be used.

Can you spot the ident design difference? The fake makers have tried their hardest to replicate the real deal as close as possible. As you can see the font positioning differs. The weight difference is that the authentic lipstick feels heavier and more of an expensive luxury item than the other which could pass as a £3 purchase.

A huge giveaway and in my view, the key to spotting a fake Kylie product. The signature (indent) font on the fake (left) lipstick is more bold and "thicker" then the genuine product, pictured on the right side.

Pretty scary how "authentic" these dupes are looking these days. The black drips are incredibly similar as you can see.

The wand for the fake lipstick (bottom) is pretty convincing but the genuine product's applicator has a noticeable slant for precision.

The application lids differ on the inside, rather than the outside.

Notice the difference in the font used for the product colours?

Swatches of the fake Koko K lipkit (top) and the Authentic (bottom) Candy K. For a replica, the quality is pretty darn good. However I have not used the fake product on my lips and I do not recommend anyone does for that matter.

The box is usually a huge giveaway when you realise it's poor quality. The fonts and colours will also appear cheap and tacky, to be blunt. Also, note the "gloss" box when it contained a MATTE product.

All in all, it's not actually an obstacle course to determine a product's authenticity but at first glance, it's completely okay to be oblivious. Some dupes have served some shoppers well but one person may be affected more than other. One product thrown into a delivery post might be "less" dangerous than the other. For me, the risks are too high for me to go for the "cheapest" option.
