Current Skincare Favourites

Hello again, or a very big welcome to you if you're new here! This post focuses on my CURRENT skincare choices for my OILY, BLEMISH PRONE skin type. Let's start with a rundown of my routine!

My skincare regime is as follows:

Morning:

Wash face with scrub, liquid cleanser or bar.

Apply SPF eye cream onto dry, bare skin, under eyelashes and around the crows feet area, any spare product to be massaged into brow bones.

Use an oil free SPF mattifying moisturiser, blending any spare product into the necklace and ears.

Apply a mattifying primer to specific areas, such as the forehead, eyelids, in between brows and chin.

Apply SPF moisturiser to hands, neck, chest.

Apply lip plumper/balm to lips. Scrub beforehand with toothbrush and/or sugar lip scrub if wearing matte/liquid lipsticks.

Night:

Remove all traces of makeup (applicable to no-makeup days) with a acne friendly cleanser/toner and pad. If make-up was removed, ensure all traces are eliminated with a clarifying wash, using liquid cleanser, scrub or bar.

Apply eye cream the same way you would in the daytime, followed by an oil free moisturiser to face. Apply skin friendly natural oils and/or vitamin infused cream to neck, chest, hands.

EXTRA:
Apply face mask at least TWICE per week to rejuvenate skin.

MY PRODUCT CHOICES:

Murad Oil Control Mattifier SPF 15

Finding a moisturiser that's actually truly MATTE is a challenge. Whilst I want to balance sebum production (causes oily skin, which in effect leads to breakouts), I want to keep ageing and environmental damage at bay. Following some online research through organically searching the web, I came across Murad's mattifier. It was then I decided to make the purchase at Debenhams and I managed to land 15% off. Of course, the supervisors were just doing their job when they asked if I'd like to spend my money on anything else, to which I politely declined.

You might be thinking, surely there's a suitable dupe? Well honestly no because all I've found online are primer (such as my favourite n07 Beautifully Matte) dupes, none of which offer sun protection or add any moisturising properties, thus this being worth the investment. I apply the smallest amount possible on my forehead, chin, nose, under eyes and above my lips. I then apply my SUKIN (continue reading this whole post for more information on that) moisturiser on my cheeks and spread below my chin and around the top of my neck. I always apply my moisturiser in circular motion to help the product penetrate my skin to it's fullest potential.

Murad does the job. Yes. it's bloody expensive but I use a minimal amount (and only if I am outdoors that day) and can go about my day knowing I'm protected from sun and environmental damage which believe it or not, really takes a toll on your skin! Purchase it HERE.

Lacura Anti-Age Day Cream SPF 15

Lacura is a brand sold exclusively to ALDI. They're a cruelty free, purse friendly alternative to high end skincare products. I've tried many of their serums and eye creams in the past but I was enticed by my discovery of what seems to be a MAJOR and perhaps relatively unknown beauty dupe! This one pictured above, is the Caviar illuminating DAY CREAM; a rich moisturiser that is thick in texture. Whilst day products are featured in silver packaging, Lacura's night products are packaged in blue jars and bottles.

Now, have a look at this product range by luxury brand La Prairie:

Plagiarism? Hmm, not 100% - it's common for budget brands to mimic high end offerings, plus the ingredients and packaging are not entirely the same - price highly reflecting that. However, price does not ALWAYS guarantee a better result on skin. Sometimes, you need to invest, particularly if you've got problematic skin like mine. However, please note, I only use rich, protecting anti ageing creams under my eyes, hands, neck, chest and so fourth - NEVER directly on my face. This feels luxurious on my skin and my go-to protecting day cream. I use a much higher factor of SPF if England is blessed with decent weather.

Lush Mask Of Magnaminty

The LUSH Mask of Magnaminty was created to help revitalise your skin. It can be used on the face or body and contains antibacterial ingredients such as mineral rich kaolin. The minty fresh scent is due to peppermint oil extract in combination with marigold and chlorophyllin. I use this weekly and it's the first thing I slap on my face if I'm having an extra-crappy skin day. I purchased the smaller pot for £6.95 and I've not reached the bottom of the tub yet as a little truly does go a long way! Purchase this mask HERE.

Sukin

Sukin are an cruelty free Australian skincare brand and their products are sold in UK store Holland and Barrett. I found their products on an online vegan store but was delighted to see they were stocked in my local H&G! My
first Sukin purchase was the mattifying facial moisturiser mentioned here. This is predominantly used as my night cream for face - yes, my skin really is THAT oily. Since the moisturiser has proven to be a decent enough product, I returned to H&G to pick up the exfoliating face cleanser that contains charcoal - useful for fighting breakouts. Exfoliation is super important, regardless of skin type as it eliminates excess dirt whilst evening out your skintone - there's always a product out there to suit your specific needs, whether you're prone to blemishes, dry patches and more. Buy Sukin HERE.

Time Delay

I've dabbled with the Boots own Time Delay range for several years and I always end up going back to their products. The inexpensive line provides you with a luxury high end result for a high street price. As far as I am aware, all beauty products owned by Boots are CRUELTY FREE. This eye cream is an example of a product I continuously repurchase. I apply it day and night, (remembering to add SPF cream with it in the day) and my eyes instantly feel refreshed, a little plumper and a little smoother which is very ideal for someone in their teens and 20's!! Purchase the Time Delay range HERE.

A huge thank you to any readers of this post and do inform me of YOUR personal regime, skin type and recommended products!
