After reading good reviews online, I gave into temptation and purchased the L'Oreal Matte foundation the shade vanilla and it cost me just £7.99! I swatched the porcelain shade on my hand but it was far too pale for me - good news for those with very fair complexions as a lot of foundations do not accommodate to certain skin tones. The bad news about this foundation is there's a limited shade range for darker skinned beauty's with sand and honey being more suited to deeper olive skintones.
A full tube of foundation comes with ml of product - not bad but I wouldn't complain if there was more available. Having said that, I only use a small amount so I hope it will last me a while!
I quite like the packaging, I was drawn to it from the get go and I like the details included on the back - it would be nice if this applied for all of L'Oreal's products!
The product has such a lightweight consistency - when applied to my face it feels like I'm wearing NOTHING, I adore it! The coverage is medium in my opinion; it's definitely buildable but I prefer to not cake layers of make-up on so I still need my concealer to cover my scars and I use a light reflecting pen for under my eyes.
You should also take note this has no SPF in which is fantastic for flash photography, so it's important you use an SPF moisturizer (I use an under eye SPF cream) or perhaps your concealer has a high SPF like mine which is factor 30!
Pictures show how the shade "vanilla" appears - it looks fairly light but blends in nicely into my skin!
I do have dry skin around my nose so before applying this foundation, I always use a flannel or exfoliating brush to rid of any excess flakes on my skin. I always moisturize well and let it sink into my skin for at least a few minutes before applying my makeup!
I wear this alone if I am having a good skin day but I usually mix it a tiny amount of my trusty Estee Lauder, Double Wear foundation!
This is the perfect foundation for oily skinned girls and guys who want to reduce the appearance of mild flaws but it teams well with concealer so fear not if you're riddled with acne. Through my research prior to purchasing, many beauty gurus compared this foundation to the Estee Lauder Double Wear, renowned for it's coverage and longevity, only the L'oreal Matte foundation will cost you a fraction of the Estee Lauder price which is a hefty £28.
You could also try L'oreal's mattifying primer if you suffer from shiny hell!
Those with dry skins - avoid at all cost, this will not work for you, try their regular infallible foundation instead!
