So Lush has been a long term favourite of mine aside the overpowering scent of bath bombs in the shops which end up giving me a banging headache! Oh and lets not forget Lush isn't the cheapest of pampering luxuries but they're nice to get as a treat right? :)
In 2014 I purchased my first ever Lush lip scrub in the bubblegum flavour. At the time I received a free mini lip tint in a lovely tin but me being generous, I handed it over to my friend.
My Santa's coca cola flavoured lip scrub is a limited edition exclusive for Christmas. How did I get it? I was helping my friend run a vintage stall in a cafe and I was pleasantly surprised that a Lush stall had been set up and ready for me to rummage! The red lip scrub caught my eye instantly. Although I was leaning towards getting the popcorn flavour, the thought of a red scrub with the taste of cola was much more appealing at the time.
Retailing at £5.50, nothing handmade ever comes cheap right? Yes that's right, these babies are handmade and there's usually a sticker on the bottom of each tub that tells you exactly who did it. The ingredients include castor oil which is incredibly moisturising for the skin and hair...but how did it fair on my lips?
The difference in flavours does not affect the result, it's all the same just a different colour and scent. The Lush Lip Scrubs are pots of sugar that feel rough, yet soothing on the lips, to exfoliate excess dry skin and help maintain a smooth appearance. I don't suffer with dry lips in general aside the odd flake in Winter, I'm just a lip product fiend who has had to have all the lip products going since I was little!
Pros/Cons: They smell gorgeous and once you open a pot of them, I can guarantee you won't keep your hands off it - however, that kind of becomes a con because they taste so nice. Admittedly, I have scooped some of the product up and eat it, no shame, it's perfectly edible after all. The bubblegum flavour is sweet and reminds me of the bubblegum chews you'll find in a Pic n Mix section at the cinema. The cola lip scrub tastes and smells just as you'd expect - delicious none the less. The one thing I disliked about these lip scrubs is the price, although it could be worse.
Looking for a cheaper alternative? Feeling creative? You can hand-make lip scrubs yourself! It's easy! If you want to know how check out this super useful "how to" tutorial here by aplaceonthebookshelf.blogspot.co.uk. Of course, they don't HAVE to be Christmas themed but when the festive season comes around the corner, you may have a brilliant present idea to remember!
